Hi,
I was wondering what marketing materials people are using, and whether they are using a graphic designer or DIY.
Print:
Business cards, flyers, brochures, menu's, posters, etc...
Digital:
Static ads, animated ad's, website, blog, email templates, presentation templates, ebooks, social networking, etc...
I'm using business cards only for print backed up with the occasional flyer, and using ebooks, static ads, website, blog, and social networking.
I'd also be interested to know what you think works best, and if some of them help or not.

Offline: Presently we only do business cards. We do have a plan to put together a brocher.
Online: This we do a lot more of primary work on our own website and our own products. We do banners for clients.
Hope this helps.

Business cards, leaflet but the best way I have found is by networking. There are many groups but I have had good results with BNI.
A google search on BNI Turner Morpeth will find us!

Aside from using marketing collaterals (brochures, data sheets, postcards, email templates, newsletter templates, websites etc.)web marketing - SEO services are very useful (social bookmarking, blog writing, link building, forum posting, directory submission, article submission).Based on experience, blog writing and forum posting really helped a lot.;)

Thanks for your replies guys, it seems as though most SME's are doing a lot of promotion themselves on a day to day basis - I really like the DIY approach.
It'd be interesting to see some more replies though ;)

Off line - we have business cards and very well designed postcards which we can either hand out as brochures or mail out to prospects. Direct maill campaigns, referral campaigns, telemarketing, strategic partnerships etc. Also attend a lot of networking events - at this stage just attending as many as possible to assess which are most appropriate to our business.
On line - SEO, forums, directory submission, email marketing to opt in list etc.
Generally focussing on one of two key activities each month.

We use business cards, flyers, website, direct marketing and networking online and off.
Networking has been the most effective and is great if you can find the right events.

I use business cards. Instead of flyers we use DVDs as our marketing materials - as we are an media production company and our strength is video produciton.

Do you think that's something with the SEO when you do forums and blogs?

brochure, website, business cards, flyers (not so much lately) and printed guide booklets.
If everyone uses a few different methods to market how to you measure your call to action - interested to know. Do you make a point of asking how your enquiries found you?

I always try and ask where people found me, particularly when I've been paying for a top ranking google ad and not getting any business from it. Not to mention the incompetence of their staff - I've cancelled the subscription today.
With regards to online networking and the use of forums I find more business comes through not as a result of SEO (although it does help that) but because I'm talking, advising, and interacting with people on a daily basis - that way, when they need something doing I'm the first person they think about... or that's the way I see it anyway.
