I don't want to give the wrong impression here as its the middle of the day but....

If you spill half a glass of Red wine onto your keyboard whats the best way to fix this ? Hair dryer ?

Unplug it immediately and then rinse it with warm water and leave to dry for a few days maybe a week in an airing cupboard. I have used this method on mobiles, mice and keyboards in the past and it works a treat!

I think on carpets you can pour white wine on it to counter the red. I wouldn't try this on your keyboard though.

You can put a bit of effort in and get it like-new within an hour or two.

All your keys on the keyboard probably come off with a bit of force (not a lot of force!).

A basin of warm soapy liquid, an old toothbrush, a flat screwdriver and a picture of where all your keys are at the moment is all you need.

Lift out the keys one by one and submerse them in the warm liquid. Once you've done that, you should be able to give the keyboard a good clean with the toothbrush and water. Try not to get water in the holes of the board.

Next, brush the keys individually, let them dry naturally or paper-towels/hair dryer will do the trick.

Pop them all back into place :)

[Edit: The question now is: What is your time worth? If it's more than £20 an hour, just go and buy a new keyboard!]

For the sake of £4-00, I would just buy a new one!

unless it is wireless or whatever?

Best regards

Is this a desktop or a laptop keyboard?

If it's a desktop one, I'd replace it if there were problems, they are as cheap as chips.

A laptop one can have a spill tray on the underside, so sometimes they can be cleaned, and the tray stops the liquid from getting any further inside the laptop. If you find a few keys don't work, even after you've cleaned and dried it, then you'll probably need a replacement keyboard, and these vary in price from £25-65, according to your model and availability.

I'd use the hairdryer, then put it in the airing cupboard to sober up.

Just as long as you ignore it slurringto you "you're my best mate. I love you".

Taken out the airing cupboard, plugged it in and good as new. thanks everyone and think I should maybe have a beaker to drink out of rather than a wine glass in future :-)
