I'm absolutely fuming...I spent 6 hours the other day entering prices into a spreasheet only to find that the bloomin thing hadn't saved the data despite me clicking 'save' at every opportunity sooooooo, I spent another 6 hours yesterday re-inputting all the data and checked several times that the data had been saved (which it had). This morning I boot my PC up and go merrily back to the spreadsheet to add more data and lo and behold....the F'in thing hasn't saved!!! What's going on here? Any ideas anyone? This is really beginning to pee me off...12 hours work and nothing to show for it! The data seems to save okay until I switch the computer off and then back on again. I'm confused and need help....are there any psychiatrists on the forum. http://www.a1businessforums.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/set1/001_rolleyes.gif

Does this happen with any other application? Word etc?

Are you looking in the right place?

Check where you are saving the file - go to tools/options then click the 'General ' tab.

Another issue is the source of the file. If it was an email attachment then it will be saved into the temp folder and deleted when you have finished work.

I've checked where I'm saving the files to and it's under my user and in my user documents but the new file I created yesterday isn't there!

Let me explain further...the original file is named 'website prices'...the first time I entered the new data I used the 'save as' and called the new file 'website prices revised'. Everything appeared fine until I switched off the PC and went back to it the next day and the new file (website prices revised) wasn't there!

I then assumed I'd made some stupid mistake so re-entered all the data again last night and saved it (rewriting over the old data in the original 'website prices' file). I checked several time that the new data was saved by hitting 'save' and shutting down Excel and reopening it to see if the new data had been stored (I wasn't going to make that mistake again!!! or so I thought)! After another 6 hours work I hit 'save' for the last time and again shut down and reopened Excel and the new data was all there and saved. This morning I open the file and the new data isn't there...WTF!!! I'm at a complete loss to explain this one!

PANIC OVER!!!!

Someone has just pointed out that amongst the disarray of files in my douments it would appear that someone has created a zip file of the same name so there are two folders by the same name- one a normal folder and the other a zip file. It seems that I saved the data in the zip file instead of the normal file and all the new data is there. THANK F*CK FOR THAT!!! And thanks for trying to help guys, it seems I'm having one of my blonde days lol!
