I've just come across this forum by accident actually and read through a couple of the threads and was really impressed at the wealth of knowledge and expertise. :)
I am a 21 year old BA Business student and I have been really interested in business and entrepenurialship since a young age, started at school when I used to spend lunch money on multi-packs of chocolate bars (and cigarettes) and sell them to the other kids for a tidy profit. (bearing in mind I was about 12/13 ish at the time) :D
In recent years I have made a few thousand here and there on eBay but It was more of a opportunity thing rather than planned business. In the last year or so I have been pretty sure that I want my future to be based around owning and running my own business.
I really don’t think I could get satisfaction working for someone else. Since a few weeks ago when I finished Uni for the summer I have been trying to think of ideas to get some kind of business sorted.
Nothing too big just something for some extra cash and to get a little bit of experience. I really see the prospect of starting a business exciting and interesting.
Some of my ideas have been hit and miss, my main one is to buy consumer electronics wholesale and resell through various channels of distribution such as online and through students unions ect. I have contacted a few companies in order to find out pricing and to see if my idea is workable and feasible but they are not willing to give me any information regarding pricing unless I have a business bank account, company headed letter paper, VAT number and utility bills.
i’m hoping there are people on this site who could advise me on the best approach to dealing with the wholesalers and if this idea is even feasible, I know all about the text book side of business, such as> accounts, legal, marketing, economics and management ect but from what I have been told and seen there’s nothing like experience. ☺
all comments appreciated ☺
