Hi,

Is there anyway of getting rid of a flashing Bingo advertisement under my read email box. I am on AOL 9.0 Broadband, windows XP. I have deleted cookies, ran spyware and search and destroy, norton and it's still there. I contacted AOL live help and they said they cannot help, it is in the default setting. It is driving me nuts, it's very bright and flashes and worse of all I hate bingo.

Thank You

Jayne

I "think" but I could be wrong that you can connect to AOLs mail servers without using their email client.

That way you can use Outlook or Outlook Express to read your mail...

I'll have a dig for you...

Here ya go:

Just use the incoming and outgoing mailservers for Oulook and then your aol username and password, should work :)

Thank You Phil,

Someone's just PM'd me too, I have to have my server password set up first, that's why it didn't work. I'll have a look at the link now, may get some info pushed into the thick grey matter

No worries :)

If you have any grey matter going spare, don't be shy, I could do with some refilling

I understand that AOL have their own firewall and prevent using other email clients. I also know that AOL messes up your computer hence the name AOHell

Go telewest!

You can have a free gmail account (google email) if you want - just pm me your email address and I will send you an invitation. :)

Thunderbird is good too (and free) - not sure if you can use it to download your AOL email? (it works nicely with gmail though).

AOHell indeed - they have a bad habit of eating or rejecting email newsletters too despite all subscribers being double opt ins.

Change to Zen Internet or Freedom2 Surf when your 12 months is up - much better and no 12 month contracts.
