Any affiliation to Entrepreneur Magazine? (any know if you can still get Entrepreneur magazine in UK edition, have seen the US but cant find UK).

Also up for a free copy ... oh and the ability to subscribe from the website would be good.

Hi

Unfortunately our Free Copy Offer ended on 31st August, not good for members of this forum I know but we only joined yesterday!

You are able to subscribe from the website, however we have yet to put in place payment over the web yet. Just print the form off and send it in to us

We are not connected to the US magazine in any way

Im very sorry, but we cant send out Free Copies when the offer has ended. Its not my decision but the MD's

Its not my decision but the MD's

I suggest you take a big stick and bash the MD on the head, this forum is full of Entrepreneurs so a few free copies could result in some paying subscriptions.

Not very Entrepreneurial of your MD is it now....

YEM
2nd September 2005, 12:51
I beg to differ - the MD is extremely entrepreneurial, he has a successful creative design agency which is the creative company behind YEM.

www.redwellymedia.co.uk

I doubt he will change his mind - Many of you who are subscribed to Shell Livewire and YCGI will know that the offer has been running for quite a while.

Being entrepreneurial and all - its not cost effective to send out the free copies and therefore thats why the offer had to have an end date.

What I can do, is send you a PDF of issue 1 - pm me to receive

Looks interesting. Are you ABC certified yet?

If you could let me know 3 things:

1)What's your distribution

2) How much do you charge for advertising

3) Will the discount on advertising prices to fellow UKBF members be 25% or 50%?

Thanks.

(I'm serious by the way!)

You may lose out on some business by insisting on that but thats your call.

If people wish to advertise in the magazine, they will contact us by our preferred method. I think that you will find this is the case with many magazines

It is our company policy that we do not post our rates online. However the media pack is available to download from our website on the advertisers page

Hello Lucy,
Well done, you seem to be surviving the more persistant members very well. YOu have passed the preliminary tests, next comes your website critique :) (no SillyJokes, that is not an invite as she has not asked for one!)

Seriously, welcome to the forums and your magazine looks very interesting. It would be good to see a magazine like yours for my area, but maybe there is one and its just not very well publicised!
I too may be interested in knowing more about your publication, but I have an office move and a PA to recruit first. I would also send you some press releases but as I'm not in your region I imagine it would not be something you'd be interested in? (re your post in the PR section).

YEM
2nd September 2005, 16:14
Thanks for that

We do plan to branch out into other regions but obviously we have to trial the magazine first - so far though feedback has been fantastic so fingers crossed.

Although the magazine is Lancashire based, the companies featured within it are not necessarily Lancs based. The articles are generally more about why people start up - motivations etc, problems/successes and the like.

Its more the organisations/advice agencies etc within it that are lancs based and the distribution is mainly accross lancs although we will have a national subscription base

It all depends on what you are wanting to achieve with regards to featuring in the mag, so do feel free to email us press releases wherever you are in the country

So to recap, no free copy ... and no info unless we email! sorry you certainly haven't sold it to me.

Guess I'll just subscribe to the US mag and see if any ideas can cross the water!

It is always the case with established magazines but unfortunately yours does not come into that category.

It is our company policy that we do not post our rates online.

I wasnt suggesting that you post your rates online just that someone had asked for info and you could have replied to them personally with an e mail(if it was available) or a PM.

There would be many who would be understandably reticent about giving out their contact details if they thought that you would badger them if having evaluated your rates and terms, decided that they did not want to advertise.

Hi Lucy

Welcome to the forum. If the magazine looks as good as the pdf media pack you sent to me, then it will be fantastic. You and I have had email conversations and I really look forward to being part of the upcoming issue.

* * *

Now forgive me, you guys, but I'm wondering why would you think you *should* get a free copy? They're a business and they are working to make money out of the magazine! Are you thinking that any prospective advertiser should receive a copy simply because they've requested it? Isn't their media pack enough? Perhaps it's just the big magazine publishers who can afford to hand out free copies after the launch issue. Whilst most of a mag's revenue is going to come from the ads, the cover price helps them get the mag off the ground too.

We're doing a reader offer with YEM, but that's not my reason for my reply. Redwelly are being enterprising and entrepreneurial themselves -- I believe they are a small independent -- *that's* why I'm surprised at the comments about the lack of free copies.

We're supposed to be supporting one another, aren't we?

Julie ... with her 'dander' up -- an unusual occurrence on this forum :)

DuaneJackson

Maybe already have.

Lucy, please don't take offence at this, just letting you know what my initial response to your reply was:

I don't have an email link below my name, but it's only 2 clicks away - a click on any of my sig links and then to the contact page.

If I'm offering to spend money, which I was, then I don't really want to do all off the leg work. The entreprenurial thing to do would have been to either post here or if you didn't want to for any reason PM me, email me, or better still do the 1 click to get my phone number and phone me.

It's a blatant sales lead just sitting there getting cold. We get quite a few 'ringback requests' via our website and I'm always telling my colleagues they need to phone these back as soon as humanly possible while the potential customers is still in the buying frame of mind instead of 20 minutes or an hour later when they could be playing a game of network doom, cruising friends reunited or buying from someone else.

Lucy, I have some positive feedback !

The first issue arrived and looks great.
It is very fresh and well laid out.

You couldn't expect much better for a first edition and hats off to the team behind this.

We have already been in touch with Sam regarding an interview and will be following this up later in the week.

Although very regional based this is probably due to it being the first, and certainly no national advertisers would have come to the fore for starters.

Keep up the great work !
