Hello England
Good to see you back at work for what for us was a very quiet day because in Scotland it was not a bank holiday and we work UK wide.
This meant that though we are Scottish group of companies we only had a skeleton staff on because otherwise we would have lost money.
Does anyone else find the difference in bank holiday between England and Scotland a pain?

When I lived in Scotland the whole local, Scottish and "UK" bank holidays were always a pain.
At the time I was a student but working in a number of call centres and always had hassel knowing which bank holidays the Uni, my employers and other local companies would be taking. What didnt help is that a number of my employers decided to take some of the UK and some of the Scottish and so planning ahead was always difficult.

The holidays should really be brought into line. And whilst there at it St Davids day should be a national holiday as well :)

Every working week this year has seen me out of the UK. For the first three months I was working mostly n Germany and the Netherlands and since then I have worked in Ireland (Republic of) - I am typing from an office in Cork now.
The difference between bank holidays has driven me mad not least because of having to include them into multinational project team project plans. That we generally get fewer days off than many other European countries just irritates.
At least I do not have to add/subtract an hour all the time when working In Ireland.
