Some good industry comment (http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2009/05/18/how-do-googles-new-search-options-affect-seo) on how Google's recent search options will affect SEO

I've been playing with the search options and must admit it's much easier to get good results.

The sites that will succed are those that already adopt a 'people first' approach: good quality content with an intuitive navigation system.

Remember the Google adage: build sites for people not for search engines.

I have to agree, my mantra has always been, 'people and search engines pretty much want the same thing' and 'build links for traffic, everything else is a bonus'. Pigeons coming home to roost now, and all those who 'algo chased' will come tumbling down in terms of traffic.

personal search will slaughter crap sites.

I think the timeline is awesome, you have to take your hat off to G, some very impressive tools are available for free.

I agree, but those tools only work if the content is good. All the little tricks that people have used in the past to boost their ranking are now pretty much irrelevant. I'd even tentatively suggest that inbound links will have much less of an impact.
