Hi -

I have joined because after a career in large corporates I have learned the power of networking to small businesses. I am looking for insights that might help us with our clients but also I am looking to share experiences that will help me run my business more effectively and if we can share our experiences hopefully somebody might learn something from us - even if it is only what not to do!

I am managing director of a small strategic marketing and PR company - Pendry White Partnership - based in Kent. We are focused on helping ambitious privately owned businesses, and professional services firms, to achieve growth and build their reputations.

I am hoping to learn what other providers of services to growing businesses find the biggest challenges and how you deal with them. I look forward to learning from all of you.

Hi Roger,

Welcome to UKBF

I have heard of Pendry White before but I am unsure where from. My home is close to Tunbridge Wells so probably from something local.

I hope you enjoy being part of the community here, theres bags of info already posted on the forums but if theres anything you can't find then post and theres usually someone who can help pretty quickly.

Hopefully you'll see some areas where you can contribute and help others too.

Hi Roger and welcome.

I have the same problems as you from a different profession. My biggest problem and I will admit that I am still trialling different methods over a period of time, is how to persuade growing businesses that you can provide a lot of added value that is worth paying for.

i would imagine that problem is had by a lot of service businesses on these forums.

That is a problem with perceived value, and you will find that the entrepreneurs who are more likely to succeed in business are the ones who surround themselves with specialists in their feild (a team of experts to call upon). When these successful ones realise is expertise costs money.

Hello by the way :)

HI Ozzy and Alpha

Yes you are quite right - the ones we see that are going to succeed want value but are not afraid to commit resources to get it. The timid ones always try to cut budgets and demand more! We have found one thing that helps is to try and get a reasonable view of the funds available and the willingness to spend before we go too far. At least you can cut your cloth accordingly.
