Hi,

I have completed a P46 for an employee online, and was wondering what the next steps were. Do HMRC send you a P45 for that person or are they on a emergency tax code for a while longer?

Often they remain on that tax code, as it is often appropriate. If HMRC deems it necessary they'll send you a P6 updating the employee's previous pay and tax this tax year, and a revised tax code.
