Hi
I have an ecommerce site with over 400 products and I am having trouble with my hosts.
It has an easy to use CMS, but things keep going wrong. THey miss stuff off, or I can't add a download, or something needs doing and it will cost me an extra ££££ everytime - even for things that really should be very easy and part of an ecommerce site.
Two questions -
First, is it possible to take an existing site which is set up under someone else's CMS and copy it into a new site or do I have to re-enter every product?
Second, can anyone recommend a really good ecommerce provider who understands international markets, music & video (streaming and samples), and has a reputation that I can examine not just by looking at a few eshops but by talking to customers and doing credit checks etc?
I am not after one talented person and their computer but a proper partner organisation who can help me take this company global. Which my current providers just don't seem to be able to grasp.
Thanks,
Anna

Moving an e-commerce site should technically be no problem, but the big question is what system are you currently using, as this could have a big bearing on how easy the process is. If you can post (or pm me the details, I would be happy to give you my opinion.
With regard to finding a partner who can help you go forward, again we would be happy to talk to you (and you would be welcome to talk to some of our clients should this be appropriate).
Although we are technically very competent from a web perspective, our focus is on Marketing, and how to leverage the web to give your business an advantage in the marketplace.
Take a look at our site (http://www.bsamarketing.com), and if you think it appropriate, we would be delighted to talk to you.

Anna,
I would do a search on here under "hosted e commerce solutions"
You could either use someone like Open Minded Commerce, Absolute Shopping Cart, Tiger Commerce or get someone who builds and hosts Magento, OS Commerce, X cart site. I would take a look through some competitor sites and see what platforms they are using.

Anna,
Could you give us some more info on what ecommerce system you are using?
Is the company that maintains the site also providing the hosting service?

Hi Anna,
We help a steady stream of shop owners who move their business from alternative services to our own hosted Ecommerce solution (http://www.internetretailer.biz). All you need is a CSV file (Excel spreadsheet) of your products and a zip file containing product images.
As with any service provider, what we offer will differ from other solutions so please feel free to post or email a list of must-have features you need for your shop before deciding.

Hi Anna,
I would like to recommend you have a look at Tiger Commerce (www.tigercommerce.co.uk) - its only £17.99 a month.
As for getting your products over to a website with us it is the same as the above with Internet Retailer
With regards to understanding international markets and video streaming this is not a problem as Tiger Commerce is owned by G-Forces one of the UK's largest web management companies who have helped hundreds of clients cross into the international marketplace.
Hope this helps.
