I have been a merchant on Froogle for the past month and have had no previous problems with my data feed. It is automatically produced by Actinic and I have been uploading it to Froogle, by FTP using my browser. However, the last two attempts to upload have been rejected and I don't understand why. It is talking about 25 of the 1333 products listed and saying that the URLs are not correctly formatted to be accepted.

Would anyone be able to enlighten me, as my traffic/sales are suffering as a result and so are my stress levels

I've found the froogle FTP to be more than dodgy :-(

They have put the upload into the web interface now as well so you could try it that way.

Hello,

I have just tried it that way and it is quicker to get loaded, but it is still coming up with the same error. It doesn't seem to be the upload process, it seems to be my product feed file, but I wouldn't have a clue how to sort that out?!

Kate.

Take it from me....Froogle is a pure waste of time and effort!

Why do you say that Pilfo? Is it opinion or based on experience?

After I had uploaded my 'feeds' it took weeks before anything appeared.

You then have to continually upload on a very regular basis, or your advert disappears.

Furthermore, we have not had one single enquiry or sale from Froogle.

Maybe it just doesn't work for you, but I have found it very successful.

It is free, drives alot of traffic and also I have repeated sales through Froogle. You only need to upload once a month, unless your products change regularly and if it works, then it takes less than five mins to do the upload. The first upload takes a while to set up, but then after that it takes up to 3 hrs. The have also started putting the top three Froogle products for a given search at the top of the search results page, which has been great.

I have over 1300 products, so it gives me alot of exposure, but I suppose if you don't have so many, then it maybe wouldn't work.

Kate.

Froogle is very frustrating, but once it's up and going it is a massive boon to an e-commerce website.

Kate's using Actinic that has a feed which makes life easy, but it's by no means the only e-commerce product that would automate away alot of the headache (our's for example ;) ).

Well worth getting into froogle.

We do sales everyday via them, and the rate is rising, we've done 10 x Feb this month already.

Froogle is an integral part of my website and it works everytime. The point I am not sure about is how do I track any leads or sales due to my using froogle?

Your best bet is to install some sort of tracking software that can report on all your referrers and how much revenue they have generated. There's a lot out there - have a look at www.hotscripts.com for some ideas.

Have you tried a Web Analytics package? Something like Click Tracks (http://www.clickstracks.com) will track where visitors come from and then which paths they take on your site - from entry to sale or exit. You can then use this data to make changes to your site in order to increase your visitor to sales ratio as well as highlighting which traffic sources (froogle, adwords, Overture, generic search listings, emails, etc) are most profitable.

Hi Kate,

I love froogle - it works for me.

If you are still having problems with your data file, send me a copy and I will have a look.

FTP is the way to go.
