Hi there
Does anyone know of any free business directories online? Or ones that will link to your website if you put a reciprocal link on back to them?
I'm looking to submit all of my portfolio to as many directories as possible. (i am a web designer).
As far as paid-for ones go, i normally recommend yell.com, scoot, and thompsonlocal - does anyone else recommend any others for generating sales leads? e.g. ask alix, etc etc.

Hi,
Try this website http://info.vilesilencer.com/
Info Vilesilencer - Search Engine Friendly Free Directory List Last Updated 27th July 2005
The SEO friendly free directory list, is for general, free, non-reciprocal links that are also crawlable and indexable by search engines, so that they are useful in boosting a sites ranking in the search engines. The list is categorised alphabetically and is nice and easy to use. The list currently stands at 167. Directories that are greyed out are currently experiencing problems. If the problem persists I will remove these directories from the list. Please report all broken links.
I hope this is useful to all the forum members

Kellysearch isn't bad. It is a genuine directory and does send a modest amount of traffic.

http://www.yell.co.uk - particularly if you are a 'local company'
I have not used it for us for advertising - but it might be worthwhile - it's a trusted and recognised name
Ask Alix is good at teleophone sales (ie they phone you us) but I don't know anyone who uses them.

Hi there,
I have registered with most of the free business directories and details are shown in the Links page of my website if you care to take a look.
Hope this helps.
