Is there actually a hosting comparison website? Not one that claims it is and then just spams justhost.com an actual one that works like moneysupermarket? if there isn't someone should do one because that jump of the bridge was looming until about 20 minutes ago!

Most are based on advertising so it never gives you a true comparison of service.

It has been a complete nightmare all day today I have been looking for something that suits my needs. No wonder alot of people just go for the unlimited ones such as fasthosts. I was lucky enough to get good advice from the forum members about hosting so that saved me the ordeal of fasthosts

You can try http://OchostReview.co.uk

Run by a user of the OcUK forums and all seem genuine reviews.

Like the banner right above the results :)

The ideal comparison site in my book is where someone submits a review then after three - six months they are asked to update the review. Plus they need to provide a website address that belongs to them and is hosted by the host they are reviewing which is verified by the comparison site.

That way there is far more accuracy in the reviews.

I wrote a spec a couple of years ago for a full host comparison site but we can't run it as we are a webhost people would say we make up our own reviews etc or some crap like that.

hmm... in the old days that site was a genuine resource.

@OP Many other comparison sites are done using affiliate links, which begs the question if a decent host doesn't use affiliation will they be mentioned? I'm never quite sure how impartial these comparison sites are. If you'd like a recommendation on hosting for your requirements ask on this forum. Plenty of good advice from people who have been through the same choices as you.

Thanks to everyone who have posted I think I have found what I was looking for on here as far as hosting. I needed a hosting that was not too expensive, easily upgradable but allowed for quite abit of bandwith as i am using uploads and downloads of music.

Its just when I started my search I went on google. Saw 'top 10 uk hosting'. I saw justhost.com for dead cheap spoke to an advisor she obviously was saying the right things so I wanted to read a negative review, I didnt come across one becuase they all said exactly the same thing! So my search continued.

Im surprised I couldnt find webhosting companies on blagger either. It was a complete nightmare for a first time buyer, i can see why so many people go after the lucrative unlimited bandwidth and space option now, so glad i didnt though :)
