I am definitely having one of THOSE days!!!!!!
Another supplier has now sent over .EPS files, which again, I can't open. Could someone please tell me what they are and what I can use to open them. The previously suggested software for my .PSD files question won't open them either!
Any help appreciated.
Kate.

EPS = Encapsulated Postscript.
Postscript is a printer page description language. Adobe Acrobat PDF format is also based on Postscript. You can view some EPS files in Acrobat.
There are a few programs that can read and allow you to edit EPS files. You can also use the Ghostscript open source software (do a google search): find the Ghostscript viewer - this is widely used to view Postscript files and to allow you to print such files on non-postscript printers (i.e. most ink jet printers).

Hi Kate
If you have difficulties reading any kind of graphic file, I'd be only too pleased to look at them and see what I can do. :)

These files should be images and I need to convert them to JPEGs to use on my site.
I found information about Ghostscript, but it didn't say that I could simply open the files and convert them straight to JPEGs.
Any help, much appreciated.

I have just tried again and it comes up with an error message saying:-
This is a Postscript EPS File.
Please Note: IrfanView can read only EPS files with a TIF/WMF inside.
Whatever that means?!?!?
Kate.

Kate.Many applications/drivers that create EPS (encapsulated postscript files) - a vector format - can also embed a (usually low resolution) TIFF or JPEG version of the file for convenientviewing before the EPS is sent to a printer.
It is a long time since I have used Ghostscript but I am pretty sure it can save in different formats. Many applications that open EPS files can actually only read the embeded TIFF/JPEG information (if included). You will probably need a vector graphics application like Illustrator, Freelance or (the one I have used in the past on EPS files) Corel Draw. Eagle will have access to such tools I expect.
