Hi all
Forgive me if this has been answered one way or another over time, but I'm really baffled by a few things.

Basically we have a simple html website and no ecommerce facility.
We're looking to start selling over the web. Now what?

Do we need a shopping cart and if so can that be incorporated into a simple html site without needing a php site (as our expertise is pretty limited!!!), or can we do something such as if someone wants a product they email us and we send them an invoice of sorts for them to pay online somehow...?

Again, sorry if this is sounding far from technical, we're just looking at what we can do (as funding is in short supply...non existent), and how we can sell online...

Many thanks

Kev

I use PayPal, easy to integrate and used by many buyers. I also take telephone or email orders and send PayPal invoices for payment. I realise that PayPal isn't everybody's favourite but it works for me. I believe you can do the same with Google Checkout.

Paypal has a small script to include in your site and it does help you to sell the product....just go to their website and look for business solutions....

Wat kinda of product you sell...if there is volume..go for oscommerce or zen-cart

Paypal is the very easy way to do it - it really depends how professional you want / need it to look. If you can get away with it being, erm, (how to put this kindly!) not too professional, then PayPal can integrate in with your site with no PHP coding required (although you do need to know HTML).

If you need it to look slick and professional, then you need to talk to a professional web developer, such as myself!*

Hi Kev,

PayPal is a great way to accept debit/credit card payments and PayPal payments online, it has no set up costs, no monthly charges and low cost per transaction fee charges.

However, the online shop portion that PayPal adds in to your website is basic. This is where the Shop Integrator ecommerce solution (http://www.shopintegrator.com/) might be just what you are after.

You can add it in to your HTML web pages with copy and paste. You don't need to manage your own database or need PHP or other server side languages on your web hosting accounting, as your Shop Integrator account manages all of this for you making it easier to maintain your shop day to day. Your money is still collected in to your PayPal account at the final stage of the customer checkout process, everything before this is handled by your Shop Integrator service account.

It gives you a rich set of online shop sales features that seamlessly integrate in to your website, such as:

Sell tangible deliverable goods and downloadable electronic content
Interactive product sales tickets and product lists appearing on your website
Customisable look and feel to match your existing website
Shopping basket service
Multi-currency pricing
Simple fixed cost or advanced weight and delivery country shipping plan creators
Stock quantity level management - Automatic stock control so product quantities decrease as you sell them and show as out of stock when they reach 0 quantity
Country taxation order charges,
Connects with your the Pay Pal payment gateway merchant service to accept credit card, debit card and Pay Pal payments
Order management
Special offer creator
Customer order discount codes

Please take a look at our website (www.shopintegrator.co.uk), look at the demo page and you will see examples of the simple Shop Integrator ecommerce text which is auto generated for you as an example of what you paste in to your web pages. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, see the Contact Us page, or register for the no obligation free trial and give it a go yourself.
