:):) I'll try to keep this brief but I'm so releived to find this site I'm not sure I can! I'm a Recruitment Manager for a company in Dublin and every day for the last few months I've had to go into work wondering if this'll be the day I'm made redundant. Because of this, I've been working every evening and weekend until bedtime on setting up an on line business. What was and is a necessity has now become a passion and I'm really enjoying it, altough its a tad stressful! I want to get good quality goods at good prices to the people of southern Ireland as it is incredibly expensive here. My friend recently had a baby and I'm very keen to sell baby goods such as nursery items and prams and accessories etc. I do keep getting knocked back by good suppliers though as I'm not a retail shop. I can't talk about this with any of my friends in work as that would compromise my position there.
I hope this doesn't sound dramatic at all, I'm seriously excited to find this site and just by reading the posts I'm learning a great deal already and I don't feel as isolated any more:):p
If any-one has any advice, info on good baby goods suppliers that will entertain me (I'm still hunting, I know there must be the right supplier out there) or even motivational messages work away!!!
Thanks, Lou

...I had a specialist sports retail outlet and your dealing with suppliers of a particular target market. Suppliers in this market are a niche product and will not supply to home addresses, they do require you to have a retail prescence as with all things they want you to promote their goods. More fundamentally they do not want or like you using them as a storage facility until you sell something. As its a seasonal product you will be requiered to forward order, some suppliers insist on a minimum order value.

Alternatively you may be able to find a wholesaler who has product your looking for, you'll pay slightly higher than trade so you will lose some of your margin.

Hiya Lou - Gina :) Have you tried Hauck? The other thing you could do is to get yourself a cheap industrial unit to trade from. Arent there any cheap secondary position (not high street) shops that you could rent on an easy in out basis? hope this helps :)

Thanks for your "hi"s and advice. I hadnt thought of trying something other than a shop out, I'll look at those storage options etc now. I'm trying to keep costs down as much as possible while I'm still working full time. I don't own a car so the less travel needed at the moment the better (travelling to and from a storage unit to collect stock will be tricky unless I can find one within walking distance). As soon as I'm made redundant (and it will happen I'm sure) I can jump on these things and buy cheap a little car etc etc. Until then I'm setting myself up on ebay and researching researching researching, trying to sell, charging too little for postage, getting stung by the fees, learning, learning, learning!
Aghhhhh!
