View Full Version : Technical question...

Hi Ozzy et al

I wonder if you can answer a quick technical question for me?

When I click View post since last time using IE on my office Mac, the unread postings list appears and I can go through looking at the new ones. This clears the yellow icon colour, as it should. However, if I then click on 'View posts...' again when I get home later in the day (on my laptop) the messages all show up again as unread. Any thoughts?

(The laptop is also a Mac, don't know if that affects anything. IE on OSX seems to be slightly different -- for instance, for some strange reason, I can't use HTML in my signature, but can in my posts...).

Thanks for any help you can offer,
Julie

Now I've discovered that HTML isn't working in the posts I make on my laptop (which is OSX and so ought to know better! My office Mac is the embarrassingly ancient OS9)

I thought it was something to do with your cookies that meant once you had read them a cookie was stored, but that if you are on a different computer then the cookie isnt stored on there, hence them showing as unread.

Nope, cookies don't come into it.

It will show you topics that have been posted to since the last time you logged into your account.

Are you sure it's the exact same topics? And that th topics haven't been posted to again between you leaving the office and getting home?

Yes... I thought I was just getting the topics mixed up; so checked carefully. The same topics I'd read at work, showed up as unread on my laptop at home.

However, you're right Duane -- it could be that the topics have been posted to again. I'm going to keep watch and report back <grin>

Thanks
Julie

I believe it is the cookies rather than the account, as I have seen this between my work PC and my home laptop. I think :)

Thanks, Jayne ... I'll remind you in 5 years ... LOL

Ozzy ... if it happens to you too, then I'm in good company. I just wondered if there was a work-around.
