We've had a great ongoing relationship with a web designed in Romania who's handled all our design work for web and print, maybe averaging 10 hours per week. Sadly she's had to stop work due to serious illness, so we're in the position of needing someone else. We'd rather develop an ongoing relationship so that we have a shared "roadmap" for developing the various sites that posting individual projects on Elance. We've found the process of teaching a new contractor the basics of how we work and what we need to be very time consuming and would prefer to only do that once!

Has anyone any suggestions or recommendations for someone who had excellent skills as follows:
graphic design
html
css
maybe a bit of php (forms etc)
javascript
dreamweaver

We've been paying about $8 per hour and have always got excellent quality work and had the feeling we were being under, rather than over charged for the volume of work produced.

I actually am part of a small webdesign company from Bulgaria called Adaottoweb. And I can confirm that our clients are 99% westerners. They probably know the benefits hiring Eastern European web developers. As they get a competitive professioanl work, they are paying about half the price they would pay localy.

If you require more information please feel free to PM me, I will be glad if I could help!
Cheers

Is there a real reason you need suppliers from elsewhere, why can't you look at providers in this country?

And some of these companies have UK in their name? Shame to see people on a UK Business forum pimping out cheap foreign labour.

There is normally a reason that an Aston cost more than a Daewoo

I don't think its about upping your game, I think its about finding providers in your own country before thinking that cheap is best.....

A large chunk of my business is fixing things that were half done or not done properly by somebody who was "cheap".

Don't get me wrong, there are some great foreign developers out there though!

Like it or not we now live in a global village. Overseas businesses are usually cheaper than UK businesses. That's why so much business is outsourced to places like China and India. And I don't think it means their work is necessarily of inferior quality. Just cheaper.

its logical to use a cheap working hand , that way you save a lot of money , but the worries are bigger , because you should be sure about the people before investing overseas, do your research !
