If you want a really good, easy to use, package which is also free I highly recommend VT cashbook.

I have many clients who use it and rate it really highly.
If you have an accountant it really is worthwhile asking them for a recommendation too as it may help minimise your fees if you use a package they recommend/use.

well I think you have your answer there - the choice is yours.
However I suggest you agree your system in advance with your accountant - it can influence your fees! (in a positive way!).

TurboCash - it's free!
Buy their book - not so free - and that's it.

Having struggled on with spread sheets for the last couple of years I have just joined an online accounting system... Liquid Accounts.
www.liquidaccounts.net
I cannot believe how good it is for me and less stressfull.
I am more organised than for years, got my first VAT return in on time and on top of things... Been just the job for us and I don't need to worry about a computer failure either!
Whichever you use I hope it does the same for you,
Christine

I use microsoft accounting and it is really good, it is free and looks a bit like the sage applications.

Personally I've always found Quickbooks to be the easiest to use for people who aren't trained in accountancy. For the majority of business owners, particularly small business' this is the case. Because of the ease of use in quickbooks, Ive found it much easier training people to use it to other softwares such as Sage.

I'm using microsoft accounting express, and it's been good so far, although a little slow.

KashFlow is to be recommended - its easy to use, online, support is excellent even at weekends (when we small business owners are still slaving away!) and it is economic compared to quickbooks/sage etc.
We moved from MYOB (now mamut and at £800 a year PLUS the intial cost of the software £1100 very expensive!) to KashFlow and 12pay for payroll - best move of this year!
It is not probably to do with the software - unless you have very specific demands - but the setting it up and the systems you use.
Go with what your accountant goes with and get some basic training. You will get the cost back. Probably.
