Hi there. We are looking to install an 'On Hold' telephone system (instead of beeps!), and was wondering the best way to go about it. We have been quoted a £250 set up fee, and £80 a month from one company. This seems really steep, so I thought I would ask for others' experiences.
Thanks.

Normally this would be part of your telephone system. What have you got in place?

Um, about 8 phones with the ability to put on hold and transfer to each other.

Regarding the monthly fee....

We bought a nice PABX system for £50 and when we tried getting itinstalled eveyone was insistign we have to pay hundreds of pounds a year for 'maintenance' as well as exorbitant installtions fees.

I ened up finding a non-panasonic-certified individual who installed it for us very cheaply and we've not bothered with a maintence contract.

Fingers crossed we've not had any problems yet. I'mnot sure monthly fees are justified.

I would say a monthly fee is not needed as hold music or messages is pretty much standard on any phone system. Look at the Avaya systems such as IP Office. That is what I have here and its "wicked" :)

mmmm Ozzy my old pal, I think this is the first time we have every disagreed.
So here goes

What a load of Aunt Fanny's wrinkle tights. You could not be more wrong.

1: Image is 9 tenths of the law
2: When people are put on hold it is also the best time to sell to them.
3: Not all systems are the same.

So here as follows is the sales solution.

www.impactonhold.co.uk and please mention Contact Foundry because we provide a very successful telesales , lead generation program for them.

As for the costs. Its does sound high, very high i.e. more than twice the price it should be, but Impact on Hold will be more help than me so please speak to them.

Angel,

What about a virtual pbx system? I can let you know how we use ours. Feel free to PM me!

THanks Dave. I gave Impact on Hold a call and mentioned your name. :) They seem like a great company, and I was very impressed with their services.
However, I think I am looking for something a bit more basic. Just a simple on hold message or tune. It is just to stop our customers from thinking that they have been cut off.
