It has come to my attention via another post of mine that my contact us page does not give a secure impression to users.

In the mind of your prospects the whole thing could be a form of giant 419 scam...( no faces, no names, no contact details no personal email addresses, no physical addresses, no telephone numbers etc. ) It’s made worse by references like "email info@etcetc and one of our team will contact you" - it is blatantly obvious there is no team - and prospects will not thank you for so obviously trying to fool them at the very start of your relationship.

After taking on board what was said I will add the phone and fax numbers. Also I will drop the info@ and replace it with a customer services email. But I don’t really want to use my own address and was wondering are there other options out there? I know about PObox but can you guys think of anything else?

If you work from home but don't actually have clients visit you there, why not use your accountant's address as your registered office, assuming your accountant works from offices and agrees to it.

As long as Companies House are informed of an address change there should be no problem.

That page needs cleaning up. The talking thing is OK, but shouldn't be the vocal (hoho) point of the page. Provide a feedback form. Providing email addresses as well is good, if you want to. My personal opinion is that your visitors would not be put off by you only providing email contact information, but by the way the page is presented.

For example, the lines:


Opening Times

We are a 24/7 business so we are open 24/7.


Seem a bit strange, what you might call a "no-brainer". Sorry to be blunt ;)

Remember, straight to the point, feedback form first, emails after that. And don't demand lots of info on your feedback form! I find the K.I.S.S principal works best for things like this.

I also hope to add a couple of new pages one called Feel Secure and this will display all the governing bodies of our partners. And I also hope to get a Testimonial page up and going but I only have a few at the moment so I want to try and get a few more under my belt. I think this sort of thing helps can anyone think of anything else.

Here I go again...

if we can establish that the one and only objective here is contact - not sales ( nobody is going to buy complex services 'off the page' like this ).

So the tactic must be to make the contact as risk free as possible, as easyas possible, and 'a sensible thing for the prospect to do'

So barrier 1 - Making it risk free
The prospect doesn't know you - by giving personal information he/she is taking a risk - you are after all a stranger.
Therefore make the prospect more secure about it - by revealing as much honest information about yourself as possible. This includes addresses, telephone numbers and maybe some personal details ( mini bio) and photographs.
Now the prospect is in the driving seat - he knows about you and you no nothing about him! Now he can reveal his info much easier ( after all he has the upper hand ) and he will feel much more reassured doing it , after all he knows your name, address, telephone - and even what you look like - a personal relationship is begining!

Barrier 2 - ease of use.
Since the object is contact. Use the MINIMUM of info on the questionaire form - see it as a device to get only the email and phone number of the prospect. Then all other details can be gathered by a phone call - by which time you are 75% towards a sale because you have CREATED A RELATIONSHIP with the customer - which is the cornerstone of getting business from them.

Of course there is a downside - you will get nutters who waste your time, and people who you cannot help because they are a bit confused and think you can assist them with a move to the next vilage. But I'm sure that at start up time ANY contact could be valuble - and who knows? You may have a side business in local delivery.
