Hey fellow UKBFr's!

We've just had some great news - we're being featured on 'LK Today' on GMTV tomorrow morning with Lorraine Kelly in a Tried & Tested Feature on several self tanning products!

It's for our latest product we launched earlier this year - Famous Dave's Tanning Mousse, and as this is the products first appearance on national television, I wanted to share it with you all to show that us smaller less well-known brands can still mix it up with the big boys!!

I think the feature airs live tomorrow morning (Thurs 30th April) on ITV1 around 8:35-8:40am, so we're looking forward to seeing it. :)

Thanks for the support guys! Ebonybailey - you know i'd try to get you mentioned, but it's a Tried & Tested feature so it's actually the product that will be on the telly getting reviewed along with other brands, not me personally! :D

Hi Al,

Congrats and well done, there goes your free publicity. Did they give you a preview of the product review? This could be a great starting point for your press release and marketing.

Congratulations.

To help you make the most of the opportunity, can I suggest you talk to GMTV about covering the story on their website too with a link to yours.

You could also issue a news story to your local, regional and trade press letting them know you are being featured.

And if you have an e-newsletter send out a special edition perhaps with free tips on safe tanning, mentioning your GMTV coverage with a link to the GMTV coverage on their website.

You could also see if GMTV might let you video stream the clip from your site and/or run it on You Tube.

Fantastic opportunity - make the most of it!

Thanks guys,

We've just been featured :D !!

Hopefully we'll see a spike in sales today off the back of the exposure.

Thanks for all your tips too.

Which no. were you Al? I just switched it on when they were on no.2 which got 7 out of 10, was that you?

Hi Maria,

Yes we were no.2 that got 7/10. Most importantly we managed to beat that new Piz Buin product with the quirky Colour-Dial thing!! Rimmel won the feature with 10/10.

We're already seeing an impact from the feature though, which is great. :)

Thanks for watching!

you might have got top spot if the tester had used gloves, as recommended!

good luck on your sales :)

Well done! It's so refreshing to hear some good news! I bet it's nice to see the hard work paying off!

Yes Lexxy I agree, it's always a bit frustrating with Tried & Tested Features where they just use different people off the street for each brand. Really in order to get more accurate results for all involved ideally they should just use one person who is a regular user of self tanning products, and they should test them all over the space of a month or so, that way the individual can give a true reflection on each product.

Using lots of different people means lots of different opinions, skin tones, varying levels of past experience, and skill when applying, etc, so it's very often pot luck who you get as your tester, and also if they like your product. Perfect example with the xentan one - nothing wrong with the product at all but they gave it to a girl who had really pale skin tones and she slated it a little because it made her go too dark... :|

Still, it was great exposure and we're now getting a review on a radio show off the back of this - and we're in the Daily Express soon with another Tried & Tested Feature, so no complaints whatsoever!

Good times :)

Hehe, we've just landed top marks (5/5) for Famous Dave's Tanning Mousse in Closer Magazine's self-tanning feature this week too! :)

And we were in the Daily Telegraph on Bank Holiday Monday just gone, next to Lindsay Lohans new fake tanner, Seven Nine I think it's called. Named after her favourite numbers :|!

Fantastic! Congratulations - have you seen a huge increase in sales / visits to your website?

Thanks guys,

Sales are generally healthy for us at this time of the year anyway, esp now the self tanning season is finally here, but yes sales figures have also increased as a result of these great reviews we've been landing in the press.

We seem to have a huge customer retention rate, so we love seeing so many new customers coming on board with us at the moment because - without trying to sound big-headed - we know a large percentage are going to stay with us and re-order again. But I put that down to good old fashioned customer service, quick deliveries, and having a range of products that our customers love to use, and seem to love telling their friends about too.

sm1 - regarding web traffic, yes there has been an increase in relation to the increased sales, but we are also getting quality one way links that's boosting our position with the likes of Google, Yahoo, etc. such as one in the Telegraph Online from Monday and various others from the likes of Marie Claire & similar. Last time I checked we were on the first page in google for keywords like fake tan so we're getting a lot of free traffic just checking us out through normal searches, on top of all our advertising and PR, which is nice. :D

The Daily Mirror have just featured us in todays paper - we've been marked 10/10 'Best Ever' for our Tanning Mousse in their double-page Tried & Tested review of self tanning products!

All good.

Looks like we'll be working late again tonight! :)
