View Full Version : Very odd behaviour from a web visitor?!

Hi everyone,

Every since I put up our website at the end of April I’ve had a persistent viewer showing up as TWTelecom - which is an American ISP. I don’t know how they found the site so quickly in the U.S. because it is very hard to find on search engines.

The odd thing is they only ever look a the home page - and there are hundreds of pages on the site.

Visits have been getting more and more frequent – 9 times last week, including 3 times on Saturday, so I can’t see this being a web crawler, but why only look a the home page?

Its starting to feel very sinister!! Or maybe its innocent. Any ideas? Anyone had this? Site is healthylivingltd.com and we are proposing a new shop soon….

Cheers!

Could be someone looking to do something unpleasent, or could be a competitor just keeping an eye on you...

what is the user agent showing up in your logs? It may be worth going back to their first visit and seeing if there is any referer info.

Do you know the refefrer or are they coming to the page direct?

Chris.

Could be someone just waiting to see if your shop has opened yet?

Nice site - but was a bit astonished at the size of your 'terms of use' page!! "If you do not agree with all of these Terms of Use, then you should exit this website. Note that the Terms of Use may be altered at any time, and your continued use of this website means that you accept any alterations." Why do you feel you have to put this? I've never seen this on a site before!

I would also doubt the legality of "your continued use of this website means that you accept any alterations"

Any site that has a TOS like this that states "If you do not agree with all of these Terms of Use, then you should exit this website" really should have the users agree to it when they enter the site.

Hi.

Yeah could be unpleasant – dunno – the shop was never mentioned in the early days. The stats don’t indicate a referrer but they aren’t very good stats as far as I can tell.
Its very strange. If it was a competitor, you’d expect them to look at other pages.

The Terms of Use – don’t remember that bit – but it all came from a mix of other sites, so it definitely was on another major site.

Anyway none of this really matters any more. We’ve pretty much given up for various reasons….not to be discussed here. Shame after all the work but best of luck to the rest of you.
