The good:

- Trigger-happy site visitors. Where the theoretical gun is their credit card :D
- Great conversion - Amazon know how to get in those sales for you.
- Protection from chargebacks.

The bad:

- Tonnes of competition.
- One sided feedback rating system - which Amazon don't subject themselves to .
- Super high fees.

The ugly:

- Poor customer service for merchants.
- You will come across some of the most arrogant & unreasonable customers known to human kind.

Depends on what you're selling IMO, some people do well on ebay, I sell four times as much through Amazon.

I would be inclined to agree that the customers are just as demanding, but as long as you maintain quality standards then surely you have nothing to fear:)

:D Hmm... our fb on eBay is 100% and our fb on Amazon is 97% - do we treat our eBay customers any differently? No. There are simply grade A [bleep]s on Amazon who don't understand Amazon payment processing delays (Paypal is instant, Amazon Payments is not) OR that paying for standard 3 to 5 day delivery means that you'll get your order in... Hmm... let me think about this... 3 to 5 days? They also don't understand that we are not Royal Mail and so cannot be blamed when they mess up - we've had negative feedback saying "Royal Mail said they left a card, which they didn't"... eBayers are a lot more ... well, *human* than Amazon-ians :)

Never had any more problems on Amazon than ebay, clients pretty much the same, ebayers tend to leave a lot more feedback in my experience, and in my products ebay currently outsells Amazon a fair bit, but I think that will change myself over the next year or two.

Personally I'm a big fan of the big river, money is guaranteed and you have a lot more protection from clawbacks etc.

Should just add that in our experience, the punters on Amazon tend to spend a little more than on ebay. Not as price conscious shall we say:)
