Thanks to all those who replied to my post on "Direct Marketing in the UK".

One aspect I didn't cover was sources for QUALITY mailing lists in the UK. We have some limited experience and found overland as well as e-mail works well with a well crafted mailshot.

Our problem is finding companies who have quality mailing lists with reasonable selection criteria.

We are a B2C (not B2B) operation with an ABC1 target audience - also self-employed people for whom networking is an important part of their business life-cycle.

We used our local Chamber of Commerce with fair results (4% response overall) - but where to from here?

As a telemarketing agency our clients ask about good data all the time. I always head them into the direction of corpdata. They have failed to let me down yet. Infact if I was the owner of UKBF i would contact them and get some ad money from them to have a banner as thre are plenty of people her that would link to it. Just my thought, and you cant say I dont try to help others!!

I've dealt with about 20 data companies in the UK corpdata, ukdata,1stopdata,mardev to name a few. Overall, I would say that I got a 4% response rate. I have to say that lots were outdated and dealing with Returns are like a NASA mission.

I would suggest going to a Data broker and not a company. They source the best data from different companies.

Check out http://www.casablancamarketing.com. I found them extremely competent, unlike most of the sales people that you deal with at the bigger companies.
