View Full Version : Problem with HMRC - Late CT41G (new company information)

Right, I incorporate on the 27th January 2009 and sent back my CT41G at the beginning of March, plenty of time to meet the 3 month deadline. But I then received a reminder saying that I need to submit the form a week or two later. No problem I thought, the system probably flagged it up before they received it from me. So I rang them up and was told that they had a backlog which would be cleared in a week or so.

I've been ringing them back every week since and apparently there has been a backlog ever since. It is now right at the deadline date and I am liable to fined something like £300 and then £60 a day for every day it is late. What the hell can I do? This is rubbish, I thought the government was trying to help small business, not kill their directors through stress related problems...

Any advice appreciated :).

Calm down - the fine (which you will not have to pay) is only £100 for late filing.

HMRC are always late with CT41Gs - I always send in a copy in response to the reminder letter.

No clients have yet been fined.

If you do get a fine (unlikely) then appeal!

Good luck

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks. That's a good idea, I'll send the form in again with a covering letter explaining the situation. I already have records of when I called and who I spoke too so I do have something to back up my claims.
