I know I know...

...but it would be very helpful if anyone had a spare 5 minutes to have a look at and comment on our upgraded site.

I just want to check if people understand the copy and if any of the SEO guys think we're getting there with the on-site optimisation?

Still very very very confused about reciprocal links and the where, how and what of them! (Ask Rob and Ozzy :? !)

Any comments, positive or negative would be very much appreciated!

You have not optimized the text on the site to reflect the keywords in your meta tags.

I like the writing style at your home page. You use short, sharp sentences that make your point concisely.

I like the colours ,they realy go together. The photos are well shot and reflect the point of the site well.

Are they stock pictures or ones from your own collection?

Maybe do with a bit more info on the site though and some prices or price ranges too, by not showing the price it may put a few people off.

Chris.

Agree on the price.

If a website doesn't post their prices then I tend to go elsewhere. I don't want the hassle of contacting someone only to find they are overpriced. Not showing your prices tends to suggest to me there is somethng to hide.

All imo of course.

Other than that I really like the layout, colours and writing stylr :D

Thanks for all the comments...

Re: on site optimization
We feel that there is a real trade off between having keyword rich copy and copy that make people want to read on. It's a massive decision to reduce our keyword density but what we're hoping is that the addition of an H1 tag, a few tweaks here and there and an additional link building campaign we might be OK. Epiphany are we wrong?!

Re: prices
Another big call. We had prices off the site and then on and then off again. What we've found is that we get a lot more enquiries with prices off, but that they are not necessarily in a position to buy.. once again a trade off. IMHO I think the prices will have to go back on as we're wasting time sending out brochures to those that have no intention of buying.

Re: photos
They're stock photos from www.istockphoto.com only $1 a download!

Thanks once again everyone, really helpful comments.

Hi,

Nice looking site. Short and to the point.

An idea of prices would be helpful.

When I first looked, I did not pick up the list on the right as being locations you have personal trainers covering.

Note if a viewer changes their font size, the layout breaks because you have used a fixed size background graphic for so much. Many people use larger fonts. You do have a lot of text as graphics rather than text.... having just looked at the source of your web page, you are using really old style markup (font tags for example). I suggest you change over to CSS, before updating and expanding your site, to improve maintainability, reduce page weight, and simplify accesibility compliance.

you could always uplaod your brochure in PDF format and allow people to download it. Would save you sending out loads and might encourage people to read it when they wouldn't normally phone or mail you to receive one by post.

Well keirms, ultimately even if you have a million links to your site and a page rank of ten you still have to have words on your site that people are typing into search engines or else you site wont show in their search. I hope that helps :)

Hi Keir,

Hope you're well.

The upgrade looks good. You have your main keywords 'Personal Trainer...(location)' towards top of page and within Title and Meta Tags.

Google, especially, are placing a large amount of emphasis on themed linkbacks and placement of keywords on page. The higher up your copy, the better.

If possible I would also add 'Personal Trainer' followed by locations at the foot of your page. This way they see your keywords on entry (through Title tag) and last thing it sees at foot of page.

Other than that its now time for the all the exciting link backs!

Hi keirms

Back to epiphany's point about the words on your page reflecting those in the keywords tag:

Although it is generally thought that search engines dont pay too much attention to this tag, those that do will be suspicious if you have keywords in the tag that are not on the page.

This is one of the original forms of spam and if it is noticed by search engines, it could get you penalised. If the words are not on your page, dont have them in your keywords tag.

I must say I liked the site, I liked the simplicity, the colours, the pictures - and most of all I liked the way it guided you to get in contact without gimmick or hyperbole.

Good and refreshing change!

Thanks for all your comments. I see what you mean about having keywords in the title tags that aren't on the actual site. Search engines can be quite logical sometimes - or absolutely the biggest pain in the a**e!
