Firstly decide who you want to meet and why you want to meet them. If you are looking for referral opportunities then you want to be hanging put with people well connected to your target Market.

If you want to meet people from a certain industry or sector, look for the events focused on that group of people. If you are looking to meet people from corporates then think about joining community or cause related groups, e.g become a school governor, or the rotary or lions club.

To find groups and networking events in your area, speak to your business link advisor, google "business networking [insert town name]", or speak to some of your clients or customers to see where they network.

I had some good experiences with 4Networking - very relaxed atmosphere but not that great if you want to get in with larger companies.

Where are you based and what size are you?

I'd recommend the FSB & BNI Networking, I can't post URLs as I've not made 15 post or more yet.. So just Google it.

I am recommended to join these two organisations too by a business I represented the other day, and I'd personally back their opinion as I have 3 pending web design jobs from it.

i'd second 4Networking.
