Hi,

A Norwegian employee is stating that it is a common benefit in Norway for an employer to pay for their home Broadband connection.

Now of course if the employee needed home broadband for company business and was largely based 'out of office' we would pay for this connection.

Does anybody have any knowledge of this 'additional' Norwegian benefit?

I am not aware or even experienced in Norwegian employee benefits, but if this employee is working for you as a UK businesses then s/he should work on your companies policies...which I share in that if it is needed for company business OK otherwise no.
That said, a lot of businesses require Internet access for even the most trivial of business activity (email, etc) so its likely the broadband would be used for some business activity, so perhaps a contribution towards a basic broadband connection?

I used to talk with a lot of people that worked on the oil rigs in Norway and they get good benifits.

Since they are working away from home they have to be given every benifit that would be expected at home, its Norwegian law.

Not sure about the total ins and outs but they can get sky tv and things like that.
