Hi All,

Myself and my partner have just opened a private ultrasound scanning studio in Reading. We opened on June 18th.

Inspired by our experience whilst pregnant with our daughter (She'll be 1 in August) we have worked solidly for the last year to organise our finances and get open.

We are now really struggling to keep our heads above water. No one could ever have prepared us for the amount of stress, anxiety and work involved.

I'm sure if we continue to work as hard as we have been we will get there but neither of us has any real experience of running a small business so we are on a steep learning curve.

We are currently looking for a company to sort out our website. I'm happy with the design and colours etc but desperately need someone to update it and add a links page etc. We also need someone to sort out our meta tags, key words, titles etc to help us move up the listings.

I had no idea it was all going to be complicated!!!

If anyone knows a really good and affordable person/company that could help with this please let me know.

Also, if anyone knows how to add a few hours to the day that would be very usefull too : )

Many thanks,

Anna

Hi Anna

Take a look at www.macromedia.com/contribute - it's an excellent (and really easy) piece of software that allows you to update your own website.

The full version costs less than £100 and a free trial can be downloaded.

If you need any help setting it up, please feel free to PM me.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Steve

Don't you have to create your site with that before you can use the programme to update your site?

Hello Anna,
My wife and I have just had our second (and last!) child and we would have loved to had one of these new 4D scans - they look amazing (and a bit scary).

Welcome to the forums and best of luck with your new business.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the link.

Funnily enough I was just having a nose through some of the author's info and saw Daffodil's website. I really like the site and have sent an email.

Do you know her personnally or have you dealt with her professoinally?

Just wondering...

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Nice looking website,

I would definitely like a 4D scan and DVD, unfortunately though im in Aberdeen and my girlfriend is not pregnant.

Do you know if hospitals offer these 4D scans also, im sure we were not offered one when we went for the ultrasound in Aberdeen.

Chris.

Hi Anna

I now know her personally having dealt with her professionally..lol.

She has designed the banner on my mumszone site and she also did my strictlyadmin site. She also makes all my logos/banners for my link exchanges etc.

Hello Anna,

Welcome to the forum. I can sympathise, I started my business when my first born was 2 months old and felt the same as you are now. It is hard work and a very steep learning curve, but well worth hanging on.

I love your business idea and have bookmarked you in case I decide to take the plunge and have another.

Once you are in a position to accept reciprocal links, I would be very happy to exchange with you. :D

In the meantime, hope you enjoy this forum, it is a mine of wonderful advice and supportive people.

Kate.

p.s. I could recommend http://www.aupair-world.net/?ggl=en if you need time to get things started, as the work load can be overwhelming with a 1 year old. I got a summer au pair for 3 months and it allowed me to catch and really do all the time consuming jobs which were impossible with a little helper! PM me, if you want more info.

Thanks everyone for your welcomes and kind words.

I'm so often sat at my PC at some silly hour of the night, trying desperately to get as much done as possible while littlens asleep, feeling like the only person in the world to be mad enough to try and start a business. None of my friends and family can really understand what we are going through... they say things like "well what have you got to do? There can't be that much to do, try and have some time off."
HA. Chance would be a fine thing!

So it is really nice to hear from people that do understand and do know how much there is to do and know that you're not just making it all up or doing something wrong.

Got to stick at it. All this stress and financial worry sure beats working for a living!

Thanks again,

Anna
