Hi all,

I hope you can help me, can anyone recommend some web cart software that follows SEO best practice; specifically search engine friendly URLS HTML mark up, etc.

I am leaning towards zencart but curious to see what other people’s opinions are.

Ideally I would also build add-ons customisations into the shopping cart software.

Thanks in advance,

K&Q

Our eCommerce software (http://www.openmindcommerce.co.uk) is very SEO friendly. For example:

SEF URL's
Ability to set link text and URL structure
Control the appearance of link text at department, product and manufacturer level
Independent page title, meta tags and H1 tags on all product pages
Integrated CMS system allowing unlimited extra content all following the same SEO ethos as the products

We also offer a local rate telephone support plus email backup should you need us as well as being a UK based company. Do get in touch on 08456 445 789 if you have any other questions or even have a dry run of the system (http://www.openmindcommerce.co.uk/free-ecommerce-software.cfm) itself :)

If you're looking at open source options, Prestashop is worth considering.

It allows the seo friendly url's that you're after, as well as quite a few other features, including the ability to add specific meta tages and keywords onto each product. It's pretty easy to customise and there are more mods coming out for it as it's becoming more established.
