I recently asked advice about web design, and someone provided me with a link to a site that provided easy "do it yourself" web site design. :D
The presentation was very professional - like watching TV, and I'm sure I got the site on here, but now I can't find it!!! I'm sure it was called something like "one to one"????

Can anyone shed any light???

I don't recall the post to which you are referring. Have you tried using the Search function in the menu bar above?

well theres a web host called http://www.oneandone.co.uk that has a site builder feature - sounds like you're thinking of that.

However I would add that there are a number of companies that do this - Annethedon (member here) has a site-builder link on her site http://www.freelanceofficeservices.co.uk

Unfortunately we are a way off from our site builder system at matrixxhosting - it's on the roadmap but in the distance!

Unless you've got your heart set on oneandone, my own personal feelings are that I would avoid them - although they are cheap!

Epiphany (member here) will build a frontpage and host it for £50 so there are a number of options - Dr Webby is another, we can also get you a few quotes here: http://www.matrixxhosting.com/design.shtml

Hope all this helps a little!

Hi PaulHo

You might like to try www.easily.co.uk.

They offer a ten page self build website for £50 + Vat.

It is fairly easy to use and cheap if you want cheap.

I really do not understand why anyone would want to us a sitebuilder, they are so limited and naff!

Get a copy of Frontpage and a template if you are not creative and you will easily build a better site

If money is tight you would be better off buying a template for $50. I have yet to find a decent site builder, mind you there are loads including ones on that site that you can try for free so you have nothing to loose but yout time.

Here are some free content management scripts....

Mambo - http://mamboserver.com/
PHP-Nuke - http://www.phpnuke.org/
PostNuke - http://www.postnuke.com
Xoops - http://www.xoops.org/

All free you just need to install them on a hosting package!

We can supply these pre-installed if you're interested ;)

Frontpage, sitebuilders, templates are allterms I am blissfully unaware of what they mean. I'm sorry to sound so thick, but if someone could explain, and maybe outline pros and cons

I must be so wet behind the ears, you can hear the dripping from there!

PS Management scripts??!?!??

Frontpage = programmes used to write html therefore make websites

site-builders = programmes that allow you to make websites without knowing html

templates = pre-built websites that you buy and edit to your own requirements
