Hi there. My accounts girl is off today so I am filling in and I have a query maybe someone can clear up for me. One of the sales staff took a cheque (well, a bankers draft) for 150. Their purchase came to 90, so they gave the customer 60 in cash change. Other than creating a bit of a confusing banking situation, is that ok to do?

Technically yes it is fine, although I would be concerned as to why a £150 bankers draft was used to pay for a £90 item...I'd pay it in sooner to check it does pay.

Thanks. Doesn't sound 'kosher' to me either, but money is money.

Hi Angel
Sounds a bit dodgy to me, from an accounts point of view surely your accounts would have to show a customer receipt of £150 and a refund £60.
