Whats it all about? I tried it and don't see the point. Communication is useless because its not always clear who say what in response to whos comment.
And why is it useful to know what someone else is doing?
Apperently its good becasue its more casual than facebook. But when it comes to adding comments and views on what someone else is doing I thought the forums worked rather well...
Can someone explain the bit I'm missing that makes twittering useful?

That's a me too post.
No idea why it is what it is. Can't see the point and will not play the game. IMO it's just the latest trend/fad and in 12 months will either evolve into a product which has a use or die.

Downloading TweetDeck will help you to keep track of who said what and to to whom. If you can build up lots of followers then you can get your message/brand/widget out there infront of a wider audience and it is free and instant!
I have noticed some days when everyone just seems to be trying to plug themselves and you don't get an awful lot of interaction but you can change that yourself by building up conversations with people that you like.
It does take a bit of getting used to though :)
isnt it enough that we're on here communicating. With Twitter, Facebook, My Space, You Tube,tx'ing does anyone work at all. As a boss I would be working out how many man hrs lost per day with all this personal socialising going on.

Yup for me the whole social media is just a big game. None of our clients use it, or even want to know about it. They are all successful and have no need. In fact, I think you can segment the stereotype and split it along these lines.
Teens and any industry that needs constant stimulus – a big thumbs up
Anyone not involved in the above – a complete waste of space

I joined twitter on recommendation from members of this site, posted twice and thought' ok what now?' havent bothered with it since. Joined My Space recently only cos one of my schoolfriends is a famous bass player and is also friends with a singer I am friendly with(strange coincidence that was as there is a huge age difference) and was able to contact him through that and my other son who lives away has put on some of his own compostitions. I can probably count on one hand the times I've visited it.
