I have decided to cancel my ufindus package, they have told me if i want to keep the hosting with them, i will need a platinum hosting package because of the site being a big site and the mysql database which it has.

The price they have offered is £100+vat for 1 year, is this good or bad?

Also they have told me i have to give 60 days notice to cancel , even though i pay every 30 days:|
I have not signed a contract and they have admitted they have no proof of a telephone conversation, there defence is that they sent out the terms and conditions in the post (not recorded delivery).

The guy then turned round and said that he would make it only 30 days notice if i kept the hosting with them, making me think that the terms and conditions are not worth the paper there written on.

Also if i want to transfer the domain name it will cost me £15+vat

hosting depends on the bandwidth and the server type to be honest

IF you can get those details up - you could save money depending on the bandwidth you use.

If they registered the domain name for you they will hold the Nominet certificate. For them to transfer it to you then you'd need to ask them to initiate a transfer, which you can pay for when you receive it at £11.50 + VAT. It is easily done via e-mail.

When you have this you can then go to the likes of 123-reg and add the domain. From there you can control where it points too etc.

Find out how much space and bandwidth you are using. You can shop around for hosting but I use liquidweb.com and there plans start at $15 a month. Slightly higher than competitors but the support is amazing and they'll call you from the states if ever there's a problem. They'll also happily move your site from uFindus to them to avoid any problems.

Finally, there cancellation is 60 days as I had some arrogant sales person try to stop me from cancelling. Do it, money worth NOT spending.

I hope this helps,

Khalid.

I hate how some registrars think it's ok to charge for moving a domain.

Ufindus are part of IOMART. I've had terrible experiences with this company.

I think it is obvious that they are no good, if they force you into a 60 day cancellation period and charge you to move your domain (assuming its not some strange domain extension that requires a lot of work to move) then they are obviously not the type of host you should continue with.

As for their requirement that you upgrade, what is your space and bandwidth usage? are you on an "unlimited" style plan or do you have set limits? what are they and are you exceeding them?

I have one client who was asked for £60 for releasing a domain by a previous internet company. I had to pick myself up off the floor when he told me that. Got it sorted in the end though. There are a few out there who try it on.

I also had awful experiences with this company. Can you can get them to transfer the domain name before you pay the 60 days canx fee?

Good luck :(
