Hi
Is faster broadband good for your business?
I know it will be good for mine but overall is it going to improve the way folks shop now that information and images can be download faster.
Let me know what you think
Thanks

Yes - it enables me to download customer files quickly and have video conference calls.

Yes a little but I'm waiting for upload speeds to increase :)

Since I went to 2Mb broadband, it has changed the way I use the Internet.
Faster, faster, faster!

I should say,
I got the free upgrade from BT to 2mb and it's super fast the only thing is the cheeky *******s cut our download usage from 60gb to 30gb!!!
:p
Broadband has given the Internet the boost it needed to become a viable business solution, and now your not in business if you don't do business online. No matter what service you use the Internet becomes a key part to your business operations and sales (website, email, VoIP, research, etc)

A friend who was in China recently met with some Chinese business colleagues and one mentioned he was on a 96Mb download to house - puts our measily 516Mb (or even 2Mb which I'm on) to shame

Sattellite BB? Faster uploads / downloads make backups of large databases easier, so I don't limit myself to doing them every 3-4 months.

thanks, I've added that to favourites. I'm looking for a new provider at the moment, and limits are no good for me (sure, I'll deal with your payment next month once my account rolls over...).

If you are looking at ISP providers, this site has extensive ISP lists with supporting reviews and individual customer forums.

I've heard about bulldog for a long time. Like many ISPs I have heard their customer service is dire but their package is very competitive. I think they're one of the first ISPs to absorb the actual line rental in the monthly subscription. You may also want to investigate how using them affects your voice call services.

We won best use of Broadband in the Eastern Region Ecommerce Award last year, so yes Broadband is good for business.
I think that it makes life so much easier for the casual surfer - it means shopping online (something close to my heart) can and should be super fast.
While it allows you to use more complex stuff like Tony's talking heads I love it because it makes the simple stuff almost instantaneous and that's so useful. People don't get bored or fed up so quickly and they buy more!
I don't think it will replace good quality content, presented in a foolproof format. Everyone loves a site they can easily understand and use that speeds along at the speed of light.
Don't use fancy pants extras unless they truly improve your users' experience.
That's my comment (I won't say 2 cents worth because when people say that I usually feel I've been overcharged!)
Broadband has been great for my business! It has meant more people go online and for longer than they ever would have considered with dialup, and as a result they shop more online. Apparently 50-60% of the UK have broadband now - and even diehards I know that thought they would never switch, have switched to broadband. Excellent news for anyone involved in ecommerce!
