Hi guys, just wondering what exactly you think the future is in SEO.
Google is dropping bombs everywhere and it won't be long before they EXPLODE!
Personally I think organic click thru rate will matter hugely.
Time spent on site will also be a ranking factor.
Social networking is also a major player, with engines now adding bookmarks, stumbles, diggs etc into the equation.
Where will SEO end up? What do you guys think?

personal search will change the face of things, as will semantic indexing, as will block level link analysis.
SEO died a long time ago really, it changed to Internet Marketing, no-one really noticed, as they whad just got used to referring to it as SEO anfter calling it search engine placement for years.

Hi sess4561 and all - first post.
The future of SEO is high quality content in as many high quality places (from Google's point of view) as possible. Agree with all the things you said with a further addition of a few things.
First the importance of site structure. Building a site using a silo based architectural model enables search engines to index and rank a site faster and with less backlinks. Basically you keep each "conversation" on the site separate, linking up and down each silo without cross linking.
Backlinks hold a lot of weight. However, "pretend" backlinks - little comments in Bavarian blogs and entries in off subject places - will have less effect as Google drive further towards their relevance goal.
Social media will become increasingly important - we had all better get really interested in talking to people and in having something relevant to say :)
I think that companies who do not embrace the changes within the online communities will be missing huge opportunities. Adding value is what the future is about and for those that are interested in doing so, it has never been easier to get your voice heard.

I think the power of social networking will dominate and there will be a few key players who start to incoportate all kinds into their social networking which will allow the users to server their profile as it is now as an earning website. It'd make allot of sense to both parties but would it kill smaller business online?

Indeed, twitter all you like for low quality high volume traffic :p
The search mechanisms will continue to change, more geographic, more personalised to suit the individual and I hate to agree but I can see Google moving towards on-site visitor metrics although I hope I'm wrong with that one.
But despite all of that, content will always remain the first, second and third most important aspect of your SEM strategy.
The fourth most important aspect involves reptile oil and a burning pyre of 60 year old v!rgins

You need reptile oil and a burning pyre of 60 year old v!rgins.
It also helps to rub 2 boy scouts together until ignition.
Plus you gotta be better than the rest.:)
