Hello, everyone!
It's a pleasure to join this forum, and I look forward to many stimulating conversations with you all.
My name is Steve, and I started my own company (the Global Online Learning & Development Center, Inc. - or the GOLD Center for short) a little over a year ago. We offer a suite of interactive online courses in business communication (for information, take a quick look at our website: www.goldctr.com ).
We recently completed an extensive trial of our courses involving participants from several English-speaking countries. One of our main goals was to create an ego-less learning environment in which everyone is willing to ask questions, share experiences, and learn together. We met that goal, and our courses are much better as a result of the feedback.
The most fascinating aspect of the trial was the level of social interaction that took place. Friendships formed quickly, and this made the learning experience a lot of fun for us all. While we designed our courses to be interactive (we all learn better that way), we never expected such a positive and intimate class dynamic.
As a Brit who has lived in the US for two decades, I found the international dimension of the trial particularly intriguing. While most people were from the US, it was our privilege to have participants from the UK, from Australia, from Africa, and from elsewhere. We realized early on that the use of different forms of English is not a problem; the principles of good communication transcend these details.
We are about to launch our product - exciting times! Our beta class is enthused, and I'm humbled by the extent to which they have helped us as we launch various marketing initiatives. Still, as an entrepreneur, I remain a little unsure about how to establish an initial customer case. I hope that participation in this forum, and tapping into your collective experience and creativity, will help me get through these critical months.
