Hi,

I have created two sites this year and need some advice...

http://www.addictad.co.uk

New form of advertising for the web or is it? This site is completed and ready to run but do you think it is worth spending money promoting or very annoying.

http://www.chat-rooms-online.co.uk

Want to know if it is worth finishing as httpxml is nice and complicated to program...

Glenn,
first of all, welcome to the forums.

For your first website;
I've seen a lot like this before, and they really weren't up to much. Maybe you could prove this trend wrong?

For the second;
if its a simple chat script that doesn't require too much in the way of server-side resources, then this is a great thing to be producing. Various sorts of "Shout-box" are very popular at the moment, mainly because not everyone can afford their own IRC server ;)

Best of luck with your projects.

Too early to say.

Bit frustrating, but how many winners have there been on addictad?

cheers Nigel

Hi,

Addictad has never been used by anyone but is ready for advertisers, so if any one wishes to use it feel free, its very cheap to use. Anyway heres the blurb when advertisers log in.

Get a 10 second ad for 0.1p formats gif, jpg or swf.
Unique ip server; only 1 session per ip is allowed to prevent users watching more than 1 ad at a time.

Session security preventing users to override the system; they must watch the full ad to see if they win your prize.

We will charge you £5.00 or 10% of the ads value whichever is more. For each add you get our fee plus the prize value in seconds:

e.g.

Your prize is worth £100.00, we charge you 10% of that £100.00 which would be £10.00 and ad them together which gives you £110.00.

So total time would be 11000 pennys divided by 0.01 which is 1,100,000 seconds if you had a 10 second ad that would be 110,000 ads for your money.

For each second of ad time selected 0.01p will be removed from your ad 10 second ad would cost you 0.1p.

Extremely cheap cost effective advertising.

Hi Glen,
I'm not trying to be negative because i believe we're all (or want to be) winners on here. I'm just struggling with your concept when many of us click away 'pop-ups' or run software to eradicate them, pay little attention to banners and generally shun 3rd party advertising. I see your site as one where people will visit SPECIFICALLY to look ad adverts.
constructively, it wouldn't get my attention unless there was a very good offer or 'catch' to tempt me to the site, and it seems that we have to purposely visit your site - unless you run it as an 'ad'. Perhaps try it on here in the format that 'business bricks' 'matrixx' etc use as a link.

I am most receptive to various forms of advertising, although my product is not totally compatible with this forum, however, I use local media, regional media and various web directories. I would have no problem supporting you, but like many, have no experience in putting together a graphic ad'.

Can we generate a win/win?
Cheers Nigel

PS I have viewed your site; I see the adictad link

Hi,

Thanks for the comments and adding your details to Janta, you should see them appear on msn search in the next few days.

The reason I developed Addictad
(good name I think) is because as you say people are always on the look out for a bargain or even better something for nothing. Addictad offers the viewer the opportunity to win prizes by watching ads. The ads run from 10 to 30 seconds, so the users can still see if they have won even if they click on the advertisers advert which might be a good idea to link to an offer page on their website, even if the user hates the idea I’m sure they will come back for more every now and again...

If you or any one else are interested in using Addictad and need an ad put together I can knock one together for free, or I’m sure there are a few others that use this site who can design ads.

Feel free to contact me through the Addictad site email...
