Can someone please help me with twitter. I have seen so many people talking about it. Is it like other Sites like facebook ?. Would this be worthwhile getting for the launch of my new business Design-Right. I have had a look at a few twitter sites and they look like they are popular. I do not understand this following stuff though.

Hey Gavin;
Twitter is ideal if you can give all the information you wish to give, without short-changing yourself, in 140 characters or less.
Much like I just did. :p
The laborious task early doors, is finding people you have common ground with, so you can "follow" their tweets, in the hope they will follow yours in return.
If you operate a content website such as a news or informational portal this is pretty easy and straightforward, but if you sell left-handed coffee-mugs (for instance) you will need to come up with witty and readable anecdotes and stories which will make your followers sit up and notice of you. Get you noticed in the crowd.
Always try to place a hook in your 140 characters. Something which 'pricks' the interest of your followers, for a surefire way of getting people to click through your links.
Make no mistake Twitter IS the new denim. And the beauty of it is, its still new enough for us not to truly know whats its worth is to the business community, as we haven't thought of everything we can use it for yet.
But hang in there. Its well worth the effort.
Good luck fella :)
