Hi,

My site is now live but I need people other than friends and family to review it for me. (Please, I will return the favour) I cant see the wood for the trees anymore as I have been working on it for so long. The site is currently free and will be until I have 1000 messages on there, so please ask others in your address book to review if they have chance.

Please rate the site for the following:
1. The concept
2. The design
3. Ease of use - please pop a message on there, everyone wants to locate someone, at sometime.

Also please add any additional comments, re ways of marketing etc. I am aware that I am going to have to do loads of advertising to get this off the ground, so any cost effective ideas would be very welcome.

Alternatively, just say what you want in any format.

Thanks in advance

Interesting concept - you could get a lot of PR out of this if you approach it in the right way.

The design is essentially sound, though your logo should be a gif rather than jpeg so the text isn't blurred. In fact I would recommend having it designed properly as the font isn't right either - it doesn't fit the whole romantic idea of chanced meetings - the font needs to be more round and flowing.

The homepage says what you do in a couple of lines, which is exactly what you want. It seems quite clear how to use it as well. The only thing I'm not sure about is the subscription - it appears you will be asking for payment to register, and I wonder if you wouldn't be better off making registration free, but contact is charged at £5, in a similar way friendsreunited works?

All in all, I think it's a novel idea - good luck! :)

Thank you for your feedback.

The registration is free and to put a message on the site is also free, it only charges (once the promo period is over) for people who want to reply to a message. Maybe the site is not making this clear enough. I'll take another look.

Thanks again.

I can't view your site at the moment - my browser just hangs

I am left hanging too :( And that is worse that any design flaws you could ever imagine; as once you have lost someones attention it is 10 times harder to make them come back.

Not responding either for me...

Just a small point on one of the comments above. It makes no difference to the sharpness whether your logo is in jpg or gif format (most of mine are jpgs and they're all 'pinners'!) - it's all down to the software you (or your designer) use. :)

Thank you all for letting me know about the 'hanging' problem. I am so very dissapointed that it happened when you were trying to do me a favour! Sorry

Can anyone give me a clue as to why 'hanging' happens?

Or rather how they do it. I should have perhaps clarified my point by saying if you create a jpeg and just add text onto it as a new selection, i.e. not using layers, then you end up with the background around the text being blurred as is the case with this logo. You can do this with a gif without any problems, but then any decent graphic designer would always use layers, so you wouldn't have this problem!

Could be any number of reasons - best thing to do is check what browsers and versions everyone is using as it may be related to that. It worked fine for me in Firefox 1.04 and IE 6.02.

There may also be a chance it has something to do with the fact that your index page (index.do) is a redirect rather than set up as the default index page. If you have a look at the validation results at the link below you will see the doctype and character type are missing, even though they are in the code for index.do.

This sort of this is usually characteristic of DNS problems.

All seems to be working now :)

Hi,

Is 'Orange' a code word as my site is all Green?

Thanks

Orange is one of those difficult colors.

Thank you all... I take on board your comments about the colour. During development it changed colour daily, and in the end, orange was my favourite! Having read my other comment, please dont think I was being rude, I was just being daft.

Thanks for your opinions, as that is was what I asked for, and I DO appreciate them.

All the best :)
