Well names Ian, I'm a New Media Student from Plymouth studying Media Lab Arts and I've just started my first web based business.

I've spent the last 8 months reading countless books, web articles, speaking to people interested in taking a % in everything I'm hoping to make in the future! :D . Which is why I'm here, I think I've reached the stage where I am now looking for practical advice in areas of my business from people working through the same if not similar problems and hopefully there’s areas I can help others on as well.

Please if you have the time, check out the site. Give me some feedback about what you think. It’s been running live for about 2 months and only really started speaking to businesses a month ago. Which is one of the key areas im looking to seek advice from you lovely people?

Well look forward to speaking to many of you later.

Thanks
Ian

It's going to take a hell of a lot of work to keep that updated :) What's your plan in terms of adding stuff and the cost to clients? In fact now I look at the site a second time I see that link down the bottom. Get it in the top nav! Also, personally, I like to see some prices on the website. I am too busy to be emailing someone for more info when the info can be on the site I am looking at.

The site is fully automated, we built it using PHP and MYSQL so it’s all database driven. The idea is that the user is able to edit their own page and then we offer support when they run into problems. We are just finishing off the payment area now. So I will have all the Payment and account option details up hopefully in the next week.

We charge £70.50 for a yearly subscription to the site. We will be offering bolt on services at an extra cost, on top of the base rate, but I do want to keep the costs for businesses low and build up a good reputation for cost effective advertising. For the £70.50 you would receive a page like this;

http://uk.mylocalentertainment.com/plymouth_plymouthpavilions.htm

We are trying to come away from the traditional entertainment directories online you simply copy the entertainment sections out of yellow pages and local. Then charge £100's for new businesses to list themselves on the directory.

We've made it so its client updated so that the account may be accessed at any point in the day, not just our online hours. But in the future if all goes well hopefully we will be able to have some type of account manager structure to help customers that are not so happy with computers but want to take advantage of our service.

Thanks for the feedback on the prices and the link its another kick up the ass I need to get some of the important stuff sorted.

Cheers
Ian
