Web testing companies?

Hi,

We are in the process of developing a new fully fledged bespoke e-commerce website and with all new developments bugs \ issues will occur. We are performing our own testing in-house, but we want to run some off-site testing in parallel.

We want to use an external company ideally to do this with solid track record\experience. Doesn't have to be UK based, but essential UK is first language.

Can anyone recommend any companies?

We are looking for "functional testing" against the func spec. Later non-func testing (stress \ security etc).

What form of functional testing though? Unit testing (ie looking at individual components at a coding level to ensure that if X goes in then Y comes out even if Y then has to go into another unit to be processed before showing to the user) or UAT (ie only using the GUI etc to ensure when we add an item it shows in the basket etc but not checking that what is being written to the db is correct etc)??

We have used www.namesmart.co.uk (http://www.namesmart.co.uk) a few times who are uk based. We have some site maintenance contracts with them but get them to roadtest our new sites and they are very good, they found lots of bugs and typos that out dyslexic designer added. :)

If it's B2B and account customers, I might be able to help.
In a previous life, I ran a high volume site for one of the biggest UK contract stationers. Through various upgrades, i've probably seen most (daren't say all!) of the problems that can occur - and had customers screaming about the rest! -despite a test plan.
