I used one of the first versions of SWISH back in the day. It's (was) like a dumbed down version of Flash, with lots of presets for animating text and pictures.

I think it's come a long way since then, but in the beginning Flash was a bit alien to folk building sites in dreamweaver with table layouts lol. SWISH took out all the complexities of Flash and gave you standard prebuild tweenings and stuff like that.

No idea what it's like now. If it's anything like before I wouldn't touch it.

just tried it out..its a very basic version of flash by the looks of it...rather rusty! think i'll stick to the adobe product.

Certainly. I'm sure it'd be grand for a novice with no Flash experience, but I'm not sure it'd be much use to an experienced designer (although I've not used it for years).

Another point - I think SWISH uses it's own file naming system, so I'm not sure the SWISH files are compatible with Flash. This could create problems if your client wishes to use a SWISH template from a specific vendor / designer.

yes it uses .swi files! when i downloaded them without the Swish programme installed it came up as 'File Format Not Supported' in flash so i'm guessing that it would all have to be converted and converting causes errors, errors which i want to avoid, this is why we're using a template. Client has limited cash and really likes the flash based websites that they've already seen, so if it aint broke don't fix it. Flash it is.
