cash accounting & flat rate scheme

i find cash flow a problem when invoices haven't been paid yet, but the vat has to be paid to the tax man.

then i read about cash accounting
(cant link to it on hmrc due to forum rules)

i am currently on the fixed rate scheme. is it possible to stay on the scheme and also use cash accounting, or can it only be one method?

The two schemes can run along side each other as long as you are eligible for both.
