I am trying to get some different stock to sell.
At the moment all the natural gift companies all seem to be selling the same type of things. I would like some different baby gift products and think the only way to do this is to source from overseas. I've done a general search, and have picked up mainly US based companies.
I was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas of how I could get hold of overseas wholesaler details. I am particularly interested in natural and organic baby gifts.
Thanks
:)

Hello,
I did a very quick search for you and came up with http://www.ecobusinesslinks.com/natural_baby_products.htm. It has quite a few listing of US companies offering wholesale. It may be a good place to start.
I also have an online gift shop (just relaunching) and have found that it pays to spend a long time searching on the internet through other peoples, directories, webrings and the like as you tend to come up with more unusual sites/products that have not make it to the top of the search list yet.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information - I've just checked the site out and it is really useful.
I will need to consider if I will be able to cover all the import duties, etc. and what proportion of these I can pass onto my customers.
It's certainly a really useful site, so thanks for taking the time to look it out for me.
Good luck with your business.

My pleasure :D
Had another thought ... instead of looking specifically for wholesaler, look for new small designers as they may be more keen to start selling their product overseas and would perhaps consider starting on a smaller scale to test the waters so to speak. Again it involves internet research, but it can be interesting once you get going!

I believe (if you are VAT reg'd) when you import goods from outside of europe to resell you pay VAT when they come into the country, then when you sell them you charge VAT and claim back what was paid originally

Hi there,
What kind of gifts are you interested in?
We have many of that kind in Denmark. And it would be much easier to trade with another member of the EU.
Myself - I have a stock af organic/Demeter babyfood in jars with English language/labelling - it's impossible to sell in Denmark because of that. So if you are interested in using that for gifts of some kind - or just knows anyone who could be interested in selling this, please let me know.
Thank you.
