Hi, I run a small business designing and making tiara & jewellery. I have my own website, plus I attend wedding fairs from time to time. I am looking to expand my business into the wholesale sector and I am looking for information on how to do this.

Thanks

The company name is indigo silver. indigosilver.co.uk

Hi RachelN :)

do you make all the jewellery yourself?

If you were to move to a wholesale position, you would probably have to expand on the employment front, or buy in from other designers.

Now is an interesting time in the Jewellery business, basic commodities are on a pendulum swing, so if you can get in low you could build stock for the economic return. There was someone on here selling Jade items, and that looks like quite an interesting jewellery material, the commodity prices on that are not as obvious, I am sure there is some data somewhere though, the Orient tend to value certain Jade the same as gold if not higher.

There was a report of people in California selling their jewellery to have it melted down into bullion, that could be something you could look into, buy the jewellery and either save the bullion smelting cost or smelt and produce yourself.

It is risky in the jewellery market right now, but I there is opportunity if you can work with the low market.

Hi,

Thanks for replying. Yes I make all the jewellery myself. So when it takes off I would have to look at hiring people to make the tiaras etc. I thought it would be a good idea to start off smaller, and to start making my stocks, so that I'm not swamped etc.

Welcome.

Just one observation - why are you using a hotmail email address on your site?
You'd look a lot more professional if you used one related to your domain name.

HI,

I know my hotmail address doesn't seem very professional, but I don't seem to be able to set up my web address email on my computer. can anyone help?
