... in Google.co.uk for "computer support edinburgh", with the exception of a site and map above my result.

Can anyone tell me why Google thinks the site above should be weighted more than mine? The site doesn't even resolve, and hasn't done for over 9 months now.

Haven't you submitted to Google for a local listing?

I have indeed. I am there somewhere.

Well done.

When I view your site in IE I get red crosses where the > signs are at the bottom of the page, they load in Firefox though.

"We'll send a letter containing a PIN and activation instructions to the business address associated with your listing. After you verify your listing, you may edit your Google Maps listing at any time."

I believe they lied.

Cheers mate:) I'm actually taking care of that just now. Just integrated the site into a CMS system and I forgot about those ;)

Hehe! :D

How do I go about reporting it? Google seem to be doing well at hiding their contact methods for things like that.

Just go here and select OTHER
http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html

Tell 'em it's dead :)

It looks like they've updated it since reporting, but now it's a silly map of loads of the bug*ers.:(

just had a quick look, there is no site above yours in the natural listings in my results. Your #1 - smile and enjoy, you could be knocked off your spot tomorrow!:)

Main thing is, does it actually bring in any new work?

Hey Stugster that's pretty interesting. Did you actually mention the term 'computer support Edinburgh' in your report or literally say that you'd found a site in the their index that was dead and needed removing?

thanks in adv...
James.

Yes it does.

JustOneUK: I mentioned I had done a search for computer support edinburgh and that the top result was not working ;)

Ah! So you kinda shot yourself in the foot then. :D:D:D

I'm going to hazard a guess that next time you'll just be reporting a site in their index that's broken, and nothing else? :p
