hi, im really struggling to find scottish suppliers for alchohol that will be sold within a nightclub preferably a supplier with plastic bottles rather than glass. The plastic bottles make it easier/safer and keep costs down as well from not having to buy plastic cups for them to be served in.

any help would be great :D!

Christ - i thought .. oh cool for a second and remembered your probably meaning the Edinburgh stereo :|

I'll have a stab at the premises in question and guess on it being the old Cube which was recently M1nus, Queen Street... which has a lovely sound system and fit out.. not sure if its worth the 300,000 though!

Of course, the usual arty farty Glasgow club layout... the refurb apparently cost £600,000

on another note... The Venue is edinburgh should never have gone... now offices Branson is moving in :(

Virgin Money is to move to new offices in Edinburgh city centre in May, following a review of suitable locations in the capital.
In a move structured by DTZ, the financial services company which forms part of the Richard Branson-owned Virgin Group, has taken the entire top floor (2,640 sq.ft.) of the Venue Studios at 15-21 Calton Road, Edinburgh for a 10 year term at £25.00 per sq ft.

The open plan office is enclosed within a new steel and glass structure on top of the original building and the outlook offers some of the city’s best views of the Old Town skyline.
Nigel Rees of Virgin Money stated: ““Virgin Money is a growing business and is pleased to secure such an iconic building from which to operate from.”
Mark Jones, Director at DTZ, who acted on behalf of Virgin Money added: “This move by Virgin Money should be applauded by the city. With so much uncertainty in the financial services sector, it is important that Edinburgh attracts new blood. “

Formerly the Venue nightclub, the building was converted by Calton Developments Limited. Alex Cliff, Managing Director stated: “We have undertaken the whole process from planning through to construction to create what I believe is top notch space in a vibrant city centre location. Virgin Money’s decision to locate here is a great testament to our effort. We are delighted to have them on board.”

Andrew Shaw of Cushman & Wakefield, which represented the landlord said: “Venue Studios has been hugely popular since its launch. The cosmopolitan mix of new and old has already attracted The Ingleby Gallery and Architects John Thompson & Partners. Only one of the six floors of the building is now vacant and I am pleased to be able to report there has been a lot of interest in the remaining 2,800 sq ft of space, bucking the current trend.”

nah used to be "The venue" just up from Calton Studios.. the studios is still open and running under Studio 24 although there have been a number of complains even though you cant hear noise outside the building after soundproofing.. people are just trying to get it closed down because its a "music venue/club" and not because of the sound.

What club did they open in Glasgow? im in Glasgow.
was it the old beat club or?

They bought into the Classic Grand. I was in last night - and totally forgot about this. Good club, good people, good tunes. It's largely rock orientated nights now although it's still used as a concert venue of all genres.

The Venue I think I've been in before... I saw Propaghandi and Biffy Clyro there. Wasn't impressed with it at all.

Chrisn1 is your place up Sauchiehall Street? Those places change hands like hot potatoes.

EDIT: sorry it's not the venue im thinking of, it was a palce called The Exchange... more like a social club type place, it was all a bit school disco.

Ok guys, have set up a meeting with a few of the reps from the suppliers you guys have suggested to me, am i right in saying, if i get quotes from one supplier, i can then go to the other and say iam getting this quantity for this price from supplier 'A' can you do me more for the same price and so on?
Basically haggle them?
I know in other types of suppliers, the more you buy the bigger the discount you get?

Thanks
Chris

Yep.

If you get prices from one and its 25% cheaper you can go back to the other one (maybe your prefered one) and say can you beat this?

Booker or Makro is still an option worth checking as its sometimes easier to do it yourself to start and not pay any delivery charges.

S&N or Belhaven - Check if they charge for Keg delivery and collection.

More you buy you can usually get better discounts but you'd need to wait a bit and be worth them discounting you further

Don't know what the situation in Glasgow is but I know a few of the local bars/clubs in Fife are in a consortium to buy their beer off the suppliers - means they get a better price because together they have more buying power.

They use one of the bar owners warehouse then all do the deliveries from there... Don't know if thats legal (dont see why it wouldnt be) but maybe worth finding out if any of the non-brewery bars/clubs near you do the same and get in on it, could be a significant saving for you.

Cheapest isn't always the best either, try and get some testimonials so you know they're not 25% cheaper because they take three times as long to deliver stuff. A clubs nae good without beer :)

A bit late on this post but I don't get to view them as often as I'd like however,

PET bottles are available in Glasgow/Scotland. Most wholesalers supply them but I know that Waverley TBS hold only a certain amount of stock and previously when I tried to get specific things they couldn't help because there wasn't a demand for them.

You will also find that PET bottles are a little more expensive than NRB.

Matthew Clark do PET bottles and pretty sure that Molson Coors supply them.

You will have difficulty buying these from the wholesale supermarkets..

After 10 years in the licensed trade with purchasing/retros etc being my strength, if you need any helps, give me a shout.
